5 Interior Design Trends 2025: In The Spotlight From August Designers

1. Calming Blue and Green Colour Schemes‍

August loves playing with colour in its interior design schemes, particularly in bedrooms where each will have its own distinct palette. To ensure our homes pay homage to the region, we choose enduring colours that echo the surrounding landscape. For next year, our interior design team predicts that calming blues and greens will define the mood. “The south of France is a region where we use these colours consistently in the villas,” shares Head of August Design, Karolina Wierzbicka.

“Choosing a pared-back colour scheme instead of more traditional neutrals creates a refreshing palette that gives a soft and calming finish.” This ties in well with the recent release of Sherwin Williams’s colour collection of the year 2025 where cool, sage undertones take centre stage. 

As you can see from the above bedroom image in one of our Cannes apartments, these tones create a unique, refreshing space; they are bound to make beautiful additions to future homes in different Collections too - particularly those in more rural and picturesque locations. “They really bring out the feeling we want to create in our designs for this region.”

2. Curves And Volumes

For gentle drama, curved furniture will be a key part of interior design trends for 2025. In the above Pied À Terre apartment, voluminous lines kindly contrast beams and more distinct architectural features, bringing balance to the entire space, yet still nodding to Barcelona's character and the bones of the property. "We have incorporated soft curves across numerous regions, they feature most in our Pied À Terre Collections," notes Karolina. "Curved lines add softness, feel comfortable and bring more movement to a design."

To get the look, expose arched ceilings where possible. For more decorative touches, favour upholstered seating, curved headboards and tables, and consider how pattern and artwork might add more design appeal.

3. Bright And Timeless Stripes

Stripes simply never go out of fashion, and August Homeowners will be familiar with this signature look. Though a classic, that is not to say that stripes can't be reinvented and bring new, inherent charm to a home's design scheme. "They add to our regions in different ways. From traditional ticking stripes in the Cotswolds to bright beach stripes in Cannes for a touch of French Riviera decor; they are so versatile." Whether it is for a classic element or a bold and modern look, stripes will stay a strong look for next year.

4. Sophisticated Shades Of Brown

Browns punctuated this year's interior design trends, with a resurgence in popularity, bringing a more characterful and distinguished look to clear, neutral palettes. Next year, we can expect espresso shades to be evermore present: "Brown is something we have used more recently with intention in the Italian regions," adds Karolina.

In Rome, for example, upholstery and soft furnishings are beautifully toasty. "Brown is a wonderful earthy colour that adds richness and really fits with our Italian design style." Then coming up in Tuscany Premium Collection homes, dark wooden furniture and chocolate tones in fabrics, paint, and accessories will enhance the timelessness of those spaces. "It is grounding and brings boldness to a room in a natural way." Pair browns with sharp neutrals and warm colours like rust red and orange for more modernity.

5. Sculpted, Architectural Artwork

Enhancing the architectural features of our properties is a key element of August's interior design style. Another way to add interest to space, particularly one that may have less intricate moulding and cornice on the surface, is to bring in textural artwork. Abstract canvases with tactile detail create an effortless focal point. Less is more with this look; favour simple artwork that picks up on other elements in the room. Or, choose a cluster of smaller, more sculpted prints. As Karolina commented for Livingetc online, a ‘tiny framed art trend’ is in motion, after all.
