Heart of Sóller
The Sant Bartomeu church, a valley landmark dominates the Plaza de la Constitución. You'll find yourself admiring this landmark every time you walk past it. Take a look around the Plaza de la Constitución, is Sóllers beating heart, lined with numerous bars and cafes.
Once you've admired the Plaza, and taken in the surrounding scenery; it's time for a quick morning breakfast before setting off around Sóller...
The best way to discover Sóller is by foot, taking each turn and finding a new street filled with stoned townhouses and the warm light peeking in. When you walk back to your home, the hilltops and mysterious mountains sit in the background with the smell of light wood burning and humidity in the air.
The August Signature home, a traditional townhouse that has a stone facade but striking inside, a home full of height and ample space. Throughout the home you'll find glimpse of character and charm, with classic tiles, tall wooden doors and beautifully crafted ironwork are dotted throughout the home. As you step outside, the smell of sweet lemons will gracefully hit your senses, the sun beaming through your long garden that includes a courtyard, outdoor kitchen, a pool and an orange/lemon tree courtyard. If you turn around and face your home you can see the true height this home offers, and expect to be taken-aback...
Tranquil Port Sóller
The sun has risen and it's time for a quick 20 minute drive to Port Sóller for an afternoon walk and take a look at the other August home and what this bay has to offer. Although most people visit Sóller to relax by the beach, there are actually a lot of hiking trails around Sóller. The Tramuntana mountains are beautiful and hikes in this area can take you to stunning bays, cute small town, and lookout points with incredible views.
Port de Sóller's beautiful horseshoe bay has a wide selection of restaurants and a great beach that you can sunbathe on all year, and dogs are welcome to play on the beach in the winter. Both Sóller and Port de Sóller attract quite a few expats (mainly from other European countries) and it historically had strong ties with France, giving the area a nice international feel.
From the beach to the City Collection, August home it is a short walk from the beach. The best way to reach to the home is via steps that take you through the traditional streets, when you're walking to the home expect to feel every sense of history, traditionally and calmness that Port Sóller offers.
Once you've climbed up the stairs you'll see the City Collection home on the right side of the street, the facade is also a townhouse but of a smaller height. An authentic townhouse exterior features the traditional dry stone construction technique. Natural stone is one of the most sustainable building materials on the market and keeps the house cool in summer and warm in the winter.
Ride back in time
Every half an hour, down by the bay you'll find the orange tramway clunking its way through the bay picking up those who want to experience a beautiful ride that ends in the centre of Sóller. This tramway is the only working tram on the island and is known locally as the “Orange Express”. Not for the colour of the carriages, but due to the fact that its route meanders from the old town through orange groves on its way to the harbour at Port de Sóller.
Once you've arrived back to the Plaza, the town is quiet but the murmurs of families catching up and children playing in the square delivers a sweet atmosphere that you can instantly settle in, with some typical Mallorcan tapas and a jug of Sóllers Orange Sangria; watch the evening go by and enjoy the rest of your stay in your August home...
With a few shares remaining, there's still time to join an August Collection so that you can start enjoying your Mallorcan holiday home this summer. If you're interested, book a call or request a brochure about the homes.
