Inspirations behind the design of our Chamonix home

Key considerations for our August home include a location that is centrally in the village itself, walking distance to all shops, restaurants and in close proximity to activities perfect for family preferences whilst searching for the picture perfect holiday home in Chamonix.

The home had to be big enough to comfortably accommodate 6 people with large entertainment, sleeping and living spaces, secure private parking, Winter living luxuries - a sauna, fireplace, ski lockers/room and of course views of the glorious Mont-Blanc.

After the team viewed over 50 properties and finally found a lodge that was not only large enough (with a bonus bedroom increasing the occupancy to 8 guests) but it also ticked all our boxes, a property that we could sink our teeth into to renovate where we can create and add value.  The only thing left to do was to draw upon our DNA and do what we do best, re-design and renovate this living lodge, undertaking a complete transformation so that it is up to our August standards.

Taking inspirations from the surrounding nature and ski chalet chic interiors with its fabulous blend of luxury lifestyle and rustic charm. Sumptuous textures of fur, suede and cashmere are combined with raw wood, horn, felted wool and rough bark were considered to create a look synonymous with this pastime.

"With family comfort and the living space at the heart of the design, it was as expected that optimising and rethinking the living space was going to be a challenge but it excited us! We decided to completely rethink the living area and to knock down everything, we wanted to consider the large 11m2 terrace that faces Mont-Blanc as an extension to the living area as it will be perfect for large groups of guests to enjoy both Summer and Winter. It’s a real luxury to have such a large terrace in the center of Chamonix with views!"

You can expect key design features such as a lush oversized corner sofa big enough to sink 8 bodies into, accent sheepskin/fur chairs (such as the Little Petra and Utrecht chairs) and stools, bold marble tabletops, wide wooden dining tables and chairs with centerpiece light fixtures that remind you of snow and charming accessories.
