Thanksgiving, the perfect time for hosting and welcoming people to your home. Wherever you are for the big day, centre it around feast time. Our homes have fully-equipped kitchens in which to DIY Thanksgiving. Keep it completely traditional – with a turkey as centerpiece and a pumpkin pie for dessert – or add a local flavour, depending on the location of your August home.
Whichever home you’re staying in for Thanksgiving, you can celebrate in style. Our Premium homes have plenty of space to host a family-focused party, with room for 10 guests to sleep over, while our Pied-à-Terres offer their city’s delights on your doorstep.
Europe’s finest cities offer a myriad ofThanksgiving entertainment options. If you’re an American in town, and staying at our Pied-à-Terre, here’s where you’ll find a taste of home.
London: CUT at 45 Park Lane
The A-list US chef Wolfgang Puck rose to fame with Beverley Hills hotspot Spago. This glitzy steakhouse is his first London foray at the Art Deco hotel, 45 Park Lane. The décor is chic enough for a special event - all polished floors and leather banquettes, with Damien Hirst artworks on the walls. This Thanksgiving guests are served a Norfolk Bronze turkey with cornbread stuffing and cranberry compote, sweet potato with torched marshmallows, and a key lime pie dessert. Diners can opt to eat on the terrace, overlooked by the trees of Hyde Park.
American Bar, The Stafford
A firm favourite of Americans, the American Bar is one of London’s longest-surviving American bars (at the Stafford London hotel in St James) and the hotel hosted many American and Canadian officers during WWII, who sought refuge in the hotel’s centuries-old wine cellars while stationed overseas and far from home. In the bar look out for its fascinating memorabilia, often donated by American guests. The Thanksgiving menu has a maple-glazed Kellybronze turkey with event-special trimmings such as green bean casserole and roasted pumpkin. Dessert is chocolate pecan pie and mocha ice cream.
Paris: La Cuisine
If you’re in Paris, baking Thanksgiving treats which you can bring home to your pied-à-terre is a lovely option. Find a hands-on baking class with lacuisineparis.com to create pumpkin-spiced eclairs, Madeleines à la Crème de Marron and chestnut madeleines with a spiced glaze. There is of course a tarte tatin in the lesson too.
Cho Cho
For a Thanksgiving dinner with a gastronomic spin, look no further than ChoCho. The young French-American chef Thomas Chisholm is proposing a menu with elevated Thanksgiving classics – think mac & cheese with black truffles, a peanut-roasted turkey, and revisited donut for dessert among other options. Available on November 23rd
Treize
Pining for a warm Southern style cooking? Come here to a place known in town for just that. This year, Treize offers Thanksgiving dinners at all three locations: Treize au Jardin, Treize au Clubhouse, and Treize au Bois. Reservations are limited to seven people per table at Treize au Jardin and per table at Treize au Clubhouse. Expect Thanksgiving classics, including turkey, with all of the fixings, plus a veggie option.. The friendly staff at Treize will surely make you feel right at home.
Barcelona
Spain is the spot to embrace the theme of Thanksgiving - sharing and caring - with the finest of local food. The Pink Elephant specialises in American cuisine, cooking up a mixture of traditional and groundbreaking American recipes. Every dish on their extensive menu is cooked with produce from fine markets. The decor is inspired by baroque and industrial styles, reminiscent of the cabarets and speakeasies that thrived during the 1920s in the States.
Mont Bar
Barcelona is ideal for escaping the traditional Thanksgiving look of tablescaping and turkey, but keeping it a special event with a Michelin star. To embrace the spirit of sharing good times, Mont Bar is a sophisticated take on a lively tapas joint, where guests settle in on bar stools by the marble-topped counter. A playlist of hits from the 1970s and 80s is a reason to feel grateful for the casual mood.
This is elevated food: the tuna tartare is the finest tuna belly and served with a pine-nut emulsion and the slow-cooked suckling pig which has been cooked for more than 12 hours. It’s a fine-dining restaurant for those who are bored of genteel whispering voices and starched white tablecloths. Give thanks you’re in this buzzy city.
Tuscany
At your own Tuscan villa The Osteria Il Maialetto is special enough for a Thanksgiving feast and so authentically Tuscan it's heartwarming. This lively restaurant with a young, vibrant atmosphere stands next to the butcher’s shop run by the same family. The menu features satisfying Tuscan cuisine, including home-produced meat and ham. In the US, the pie plays a huge part in dinner - and not just pumpkin. Spiced cranberry and apple cobbler, chocolate chess pie, bourbon-pecan pie, coconut fluff cake, Meyer lemon tart… You've hopefully had your fill! As you’re in Italy, a Torta Della Nonna can be your nod to the Thanksgiving tradition of pie for dessert. La Dolce vita - a lot to be thankful for!
