The Location

Nestled in the heart of west London, lies a hidden gem - a quintessentially Victorian building tucked away on a tranquil street. With its light-filled, elevated position and soaring windows welcoming in the city’s energy, this apartment boasts a coveted SW7 postcode, enabling homeowners to live an authentic London experience with unrivalled access to the city’s finest neighbourhoods.

The Apartment

The apartment resides on the 2nd floor of a charming traditional Victorian building, a testament to the architectural style that epitomises the area. You can revel in tranquillity on a tucked-away side street, striking a perfect balance between serenity and a prime location with access to central London.

The apartment encompasses two bedrooms and bathrooms, embodying the essence of open-plan living with its south-facing aspect, flooding the space with natural light. With its high ceilings and iconic sash windows that lend it so much character, we have created a quintessentially British hideaway in a bustling metropolis.

Living Room

To the right of the kitchen, the main living space was originally constrained. The retro units from the 1950s were immediately marked for an August refresh. We decided to future-proof these adjoining rooms and open up the space. We designed two architectural portals for a more open and functional configuration that completely changed the flow of the rooms.

Kitchen

Pre-renovation, the entrance leads straight on to a long, lean kitchen, with a wonderful large window at the rear. The view of the outside townhouses gives this apartment that heart-of-London feeling and brings so much natural light into the room. We breathed new life into the space with refreshed cabinetry in solid oak or teak, with bright clean stone worktops and finishes in copper.

These replaced the preceding Georgian era marble worktops and bronze accessories. Our kitchen upgrade includes a full renovation of the floor with a tumbled marble finish. The hi-spec upgrade includes a freestanding Rangemaster cooker.

Bedrooms

The two bedrooms, once steeped in antiquated charm, have undergone a meticulous redesign. Outdated fixtures and faded hues have made way for a fresh palette of neutrals, punctuated by subtle hints of timeless accents. Classical furnishings infuse the space with a sense of sophistication. Luxurious textiles and plush bedding offer comfort and warmth, while the art pieces add depth and character to the rooms. As daylight filters through the sash windows, the bedrooms emerge as serene sanctuaries, emblematic of modern living intertwined with the enduring charm of London's rich heritage.

Decor

We layer contemporary and traditional furniture and art pieces to both complement and contrast with the classic Victorian frame. We played with scale and texture and curated a mix of some bespoke woven pieces, a collection of 8 abstract prints and some large-format canvas paintings. We align the style of the apartment with the city’s spirit. So you’ll find lots of great books by British authors, local pottery and treasures sourced in London's many neighbourhood villages.
